A new artificial intelligence (AI) technology from Qure.ai is being rolled out in trusts across the peninsula, to help speed up the diagnosis of chest lung nodules.

The programme follows a successful bid for £936,000 from the government's Artificial Intelligence Development Fund (AIDF), and a procurement process led on behalf of the region by PenRAD.

Qure.ai uses deep learning technology to provide automated interpretation of radiology exams, helping clinicians to detect and analysis lung nodules on CT chest scans.

Qure.ai has been awarded the contract for two years and the implementation of the project is expected to be completed by the end of September. There's more information about the technology on the Qure.ai website: AI for early detection of Lung Cancer.
